Ecuadorian emergency service ecu 911 from Macas region reported that Sangay volcano is spewing pyroclastic material into Cotopaxi volcano, which has been active for weeks.
All this adds up to the earthquake that killed 14 people and injured 381 more in Ecuador on Saturday, including the death of a four-year-old girl in Peru.
Sangay’s activity was recorded at night from Saturday to Sunday, as can be seen in a video posted on social networks by ecu 911, in which you can see how the volcano spews large volumes of lava at a height of several meters.
The Ecuadorian Institute of Geophysics warned that the volcano’s density level at the surface is high and the same thing is happening inland with high activity.
In addition, the Institute reported an increase in the activity of Cotopaxi volcano since 9 am on Sunday, with the observation of an ash column reaching 1 kilometer high above the crater.
The ash pillar is heading east, and it’s warned that the cloud could create ash in towns near the volcano. Authorities recommend that you take the relevant precautions and inform yourself through official channels.
