Peru.- Peru declared a state of emergency in eight regions due to rains

MADRID, 19 March (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Peruvian Government declared a state of emergency in 154 districts of 8 regions due to the heavy rains that affected the country.

According to Peruvian radio station RPP, the aim is to “carry out measures and actions that guarantee the protection of the population from the effects of heavy rains”.

The National Civil Defense Institute (INDECI) has recommended preparedness measures for precipitation in the form of snow, hail, sleet and moderate to heavy rain on Saturday night.

In addition, the Government announced 9,000 temporary jobs for people affected by the rains across Peru. Labor Minister Alfonso Adrianzén explained that they “followed the victims in coordination with the mayors”.

“We calculate that we will cover 112 districts in 20 districts,” CHP said. The condition of being able to benefit from these temporary jobs is to be part of a family affected by landslides or flooding of rivers due to rains.

On the other hand, Ministry of Health National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Disease Control (CDC-Peru), Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), Acute Diarrheal Diseases (EDA), dengue fever, leptospirosis, plague and malaria.
